Alanah Claybaugh, M.A., M.P.S.

Alanah Claybaugh is a fourth-year Ph.D. student in the Clinical Psychology program at UNC–Chapel Hill, currently completing a clinical practicum at Silber for the 2026–2027 academic year. Alanah grew up in Arkansas and attended college at the University of Arkansas, earning a bachelor’s degree in biology with minors in psychology and philosophy. She later went on to earn a master’s degree in Clinical Psychological Sciences at the University of Maryland. 

Bio:

While getting her master’s degree, Alanah worked as a researcher at the University of Maryland in close collaboration with Children’s National Hospital. Her research focused on working with families with parents and children struggling with ADHD symptoms. Currently, her research primarily explores how stressors can impact parenting, the parent-child relationship, and child behavior. 

Clinically, Alanah has received training in evidence-based assessment and evidence-based treatment, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Behavioral Parent Training, Organizational Skills Training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy. She has worked at a university counseling center and at two different community mental health clinics, collaborating with a variety of clients and their families while focusing on presenting issues such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, and behavioral disorders. In addition to working with clients and their families individually, Alanah has also co-facilitated a Self-Compassion Mindfulness group therapy experience. 

Overall, Alanah aims to create an environment where clients feel as though they can be open and supported.
