Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder

Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder refers to persistent and severe irritability which is out of the norm for the developmental level of the child. This emotional state is accompanied by frequent temper outbursts and an irritable, angry mood that is present almost daily. Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder is a mood disorder in children where there are clear cut changes in affect, cognition and day-to-day functioning. The diagnosis of such is not made before the age of 6 or after 18 and the presentation of symptoms must be observed before 10 years of age. Many young children who present for mental health care display symptoms of Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder.
