Effua Sosoo, M.A.

Effua Sosoo, M.A. is a doctoral candidate in Clinical Psychology at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill (UNC-CH). Effua received her master’s degree from UNC-CH in 2017. Effua has experience providing psychological assessments to children, adolescents, and adults for diagnostic clarity, ADHD, and learning disorders. She has also received training in mindfulness-based stress reduction and she promotes social and emotional competence in elementary school students through the use of puppets and provided individual therapy to high school students.

Effua is passionate about providing evidence-based care to racial/ethnic minority individuals and has served as the co-leader of the UNC-CH Clinical Psychology Diversity Training Committee for the past two years. She employs an eclectic therapeutic approach and believes that a variety of therapeutic philosophies should be harnessed to meet the unique needs of each client.
